About Us

The Old Curiosity Shop was established in 2015 and specialises in Antiques, Collectables and anything Old or Unusual. We offer a large selection of items on our website as well as a separate stock within our retail gallery in Kendal.

We are always interested in purchasing new items and offer a hassle free, no obligation valuation service.

Opening Hours

Thursday 12.30-5, Friday 10.30-5 & Saturday 10.30-5.

Other times by appointment only. We occasionally open other days, so keep an eye on our Facebook/Twitter feed for updates.

How To Find Us

By car
From the South
Exit the M6 at junction 36 and follow the A590 to South Lakes. Take the South Kendal (A6) exit and follow the signs for Town Centre. The Old Curiosity Shop is on the left after the Parish Church. Kendal has a one way system so if you miss the turn, you need to loop around the town.

From the North
Exit the M6 at junction 39 and follow the A6 for Kendal. Once in Kendal follow signs for M6 junction 36 and A65. Keep right, follow the river over the bridge, keep right to Town Centre. The Old Curiosity is the first right after the Parish Church. Kendal has a one ways system so if you miss the turn, you need to loop around the town.

By train
Oxenholme: The Lake District is the nearest main-line railway station. A connecting train will bring you to Kendal Station. The station is one mile from the Art Gallery on a level walk along the river Kent.

Parking
Kendal Parish Church & Abbot Hall Art Gallery which are both located in Kirkland, within 50 yards of the shop, both operate a pay and display car park. Both are located on the right hand side of the road, The Parish Church on the bend before the shop and Abbot Hall the first right after the shop.
